Fennel and sage oat and lentil patties

Can't honestly recommend these because of the texture. Flavor could be reworked a bit but I don't think that'll fix the dish. I improvised from some recipes I found online but here is how I did it.

100g rolled oats

240g canned drained lentils

250 ml vegetable stock

1 small onion

1 clove garlic

1/3 teaspoon dried sage

1/3 teaspoon ground fennel (this is too much but what I put in)

Salt and pepper

Oil for frying

Side dishes

Finely chop the onion and gently fry until well browned, add the minced garlic and spices then cook a minute more. Add the lentils and cook for a bit, add the stock and the oatmeal. Bring to a boil to make a really thick oatmeal.

Let cool, shape into patties and fry them up.

Less fennel and maybe some liquid smoke could improve the flavor but that won't fix the texture. I'll try to make some really thin ones from the leftover mix to see if thin crispy ones are better.
