The ferngully remake we deserve

June 9th, 2020 - The boys and I finally finished the "gunner saddle" for the turtle... Never imagined I'd need to write those words, but it was the most realistic option to travel back to base. At our 3" size those 10 short miles would now feel like over 200.

We still don't know if this affected everyone or just our team. My mind seems to be coming up with any reason for it other than the obvious. If it's that then almost everyone on the planet could be effected.

We all felt that the corona virus cure seemed to arrive to quickly, but when we got supply on base almost exactly a month ago to the day, nobody hesitated to get in line either.

June 20th - The journey was not an easy one. The easiest way to explain it is that Honey I Shrunk the Kids may be the most realistic movie ever made. Bugs, birds, cats - everything wants to eat you.

Maybe one day I'll write it all down, but I am not sure I will want to remember. Besides, we have more pressing issues.

As we expected, the cure is what caused this and most of the world population is now 3"tall. Anti-vaxxers, and those in the most remote places are the only ones who didn't get the cure.

June 21st - there has been little to no news from the outside world. Using a smartphone is nearly impossible at this size, and even if we could everyone else is this size too.

The only clue we have at all is a rumor that Elon Musk was behind the unbelievably fast discovery for a cure and getting that cure out to the public.

Not surprisingly, anti-vaxxers are flaunting their decision not to get the shot in the little news you can find.

June 23rd - we confirmed the rumor that Elon Musk was behind the cure. Well at least we found the Tesla logos on some boxes near the medical center and the ant-vaxxer news seems to say that he had planned this all along.

Normally I wouldn't believe that group but when you are 3" tall you open your mind to some crazy ideas.

June 25th - We received news from the Pentagon that everyone will be flown by drone to an undisclosed location to establish an infrastructure for people of our size.

This definitely doesn't inspire confidence that this issue will be solved soon. Even more concerning is the drone that arrived has a Tesla logo.

June 28th - when we arrived at the undisclosed location we expected to help build everything but the base was already complete... There are towns, movie theaters, restaurants, liquor stores with tiny liquor... anything you could need.

My only thought is this is one of those moments that has to be too good to be true.

June 30th - Elon made an appearance today. He was also 3" tall. I wanted to be mad but as soon as he began to speak I knew we were about to learn something none of us expected.

The quick version is that the corona virus was real, but it was not the only reason for the social distancing and all the measures that went into place.

The government used it as an opportunity to solve an even bigger issue.

While we were all focused on corona virus, they were creating a plan to save the planet from an asteroid. One that we could not deflect.

Keeping us at home kept us from flooding the highways all panicking to get home from our families. And using a disease allowed them to distribute the "cure" without most people Questioning them.

The anti-vaxxers were a group they were willing to let go it seems.

July 1st - we are taking off tomorrow morning. At this size we can fit about 10,000 people per ship.

I'm not great at math, but even I know that even with that many people per ship there is no way everyone is going to make it off of Earth. Even if he had 50 ships we could only fit half a million people.

July 2nd - first space flight this morning wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. It turns out before our final trip to Mars. We are stopping at the moon.

Some good news too. After each pod of 10,000 is launched into space the rocket engines returned and launched additional pods. I don't know how many will make it, but one of our guys counted over 300 from our window so far.

July 3rd - when we arrived at the moon our pod landed, then expanded and connected with several pods that had already landed here. Basically the tiny base we had on Earth if not better. We even stopped at a McDonald's that was fully automated.

It seems that the moon base will be our base for longer than expected. I keep looking to see if there is a larger "mother ship" that we will all take to Mars, but so far all of the ships are the same size pod as ours.

July 4th - if this were in a sci fi movie I'd probably say it was stupid, but we are flying the Moon to Mars..

The earth will be hit around 10am by the asteroid. When it does, the moon will not be tied to the Earth's gravity, and Elon will use the centrifugal force of the moon to begin the launch.

As you would expect the direction the moon will release from Earth's gravity will not take us the shortest distance to Mars, but we could fit more infrastructure on the moon than a mothership, so this opportunity allowed the most people to be saved.

In 10 years we will finally be to our new home, and Elon will finally return to his family.
