Fewer guns mean fewer killings, and we all know it

Obvious, but useless. People know that tobacco is bad but they still smoke. People know that alcohol is bad but they still drink. People know that eating junk food is bad but they still eat it. People know that heroin/cocaine/meth can lead to overdoses but they still do drugs.

Can guns be a problem? Sure. You know what's a bigger problem? Someone who wants to kill themselves or others. Taking the gun away from them won't change their attitude, it just delays the inevitable. Every time a shooting happens people focus on the how and they completely ignore the why.

"But random country has strict gun laws and they have fewer shootings". Yeah, let's look at a singe variable in the human equation and claim that we know the answer to human behavior. Do you think that there are thousands of Swedes walking around just itching to kill someone if only they possessed a firearm? No. All of these countries that have less gun violence also have better education, better healthcare, and less poverty than the United States. They have less inequality and a social safety net that helps prevent people from becoming destitute and desperate.

There are half a dozen major issues we need to address in this country that have a far greater impact on the health and well-being of millions of Americans before guns become the #1 issue.
