FFXIV Director Yoshida commented on the current FFXIV-WOW situation

I don't spam my services, I am not a bot farm. Not everyone who buys accounts is incompetent, plenty of high end raiders just don't want to level another toon, but the incompetence of the buyer again is on the buyer, not me.

The environment is created by the developers and the players. In real life it's the government and the people, and a black market will always arise to fill the void. You can buy weed from the cartels, or you can buy it from a dude selling weed on the side of his real job because he's got a family to support.

The cartels didn't create the environment though, prohibition did. The cartels exploit it harshly and execute it ruthlessly and immorally, much like bot farms.

I do not see myself as complicit in the creation of the black market I function within.

I do however help create the weed black market because I need to smoke it to not hurt people. I'd buy it from a legitimate market if it were available, but the government makes it a black market by making it illegal where I live. I'll get it however I can get it, but I prefer to not get it from the cartels.

I'm your neighborhood weed dealer, not the cartels. Against the rules perhaps, but not immoral.
