Fiber Optic Cable

The cable runs from your router to a box beside outside your house or in your garage. Inside You can buy an appropriate length of fiber and fish it to wherever you need it.

A coupler costs less than $1 and single mode terminated sc/apc cable costs about $5 + $1.00 per meter. You can order what you need from a store like infinitecables.com

The main problem you'll have is fishing the fiber through the walls from where it comes do your property to where you need it for the router. Unlike ethernet you have to be very careful with the stuff. Any electrician that does low-voltage work can probably do it but you'll probably end up paying for a couple of hours of labour to install $10 worth of fiber.

Your best bet is just to call telus, tell them you fucked up, and they'll send tech support. Their technicians are familiar with doing the initial hook ups so they should be able to solve the problem quickly. If they charge it's unlikely to be more than $100.

If you're really lucky they'll just re-terminate the cable. That only takes a few minutes if you've got a bit of practice like an install technician would. You could do that yourself but doing it properly requires costly tools and practice that you don't have. If you've been nice to an IT person at work they may be able to help.
