The Fifth Element (1997) [720p] [Altered: Audio]

Hell. Fucking. Yeah.

The Fifth Element tells the story of Korben Dallas, a one time special forces soldier turned cab driver from Neo New York in the year 2263. Dallas' life sucks, he lives in a small, shitty apartment, his cabbie license is about to be revoked because of demerits, his cigarettes are 90% filter and to top it all off his mother is calling to give him shit every day.

While Korben is dealing with future bullshit, a group of aliens are returning to earth with a weapon designed to destroy an ultimate embodiment of evil which has been discovered deep in another galaxy. As the aliens approach with the weapon, they are shot down by mercenaries working for the megacorporation Zorg Enterprises, who has been chosen as an enforcer for the great evil.

With the Universe in grave danger, it's up to Korben Dallas, who is called back into action, to collect the five elements and destroy the ultimate evil, but the fifth element may end up being more than he can handle.

The Fifth Element is among the finest science fiction films put on the silver screen, keeping pace with the likes of Star Wars, 2001 and Blade Runner. The film features great design for the alien races, an awesome futuristic world, beautiful design for the space ships, costumes, and sets... hell even the guns are well designed. The acting is superb, with every single character embodying their role perfectly. The sound design is brilliant, with fantastic effects and some of the best compositions long time Besson collaborator Eric Serra has ever made. I could go on and on about the virtues of this film, but maybe it's best if you just watch it right now.

TL;DR - 10/10
I was considering giving this film a 9 because I'm a bit of a cheapskate when it comes to ratings, but this is actually a perfect film. Everything it sets out to do, it excels at. If you loved the Die Hard trilogy, this is the spiritual successor; you could almost call it Die Hard 4000. Best part, is I don't know a single person who watched this film and wasn't overcome with a childlike cinematic joy, and that's what watching movies should be all about.
