final fantasy

Not only do they not gain respect or support for admitting to being trans, but it is much more likely that one loses those things in this situation. That is one of a ton of things that make being trans terrifying. “Then just keep it to yourself”, you may be thinking. Well, transphobes (and I’m not calling you a transphobe, just speaking about them generally) also hate when trans people don’t openly admit to being trans, seeing it as a trick or ‘trap’.

Trans people literally get murdered for both admitting to being trans and for concealing that they are trans. Even coming out to family can be literally life threatening for a trans person.

We don’t know the context for the situation in OP’s post, but the person who replied to the trans man didn’t seem at all upset to be told that- homie just wanted to play final fantasy. Totally fair reaction, one can assume, given the lack of context. If the person in the post wasn’t upset, why get upset for them? Especially when the original post is pretty funny.

Being trans is a scary, often isolated experience for a lot of people. To me, OP’s post just looks like a trans guy trying to let his homie know why he might be a little different from other guys. Because they’re homies, and dude feels safe sharing this potentially dangerous info with his bro, to get it out of the way and avoid an awkward conversation later. And bro is cool with it, just wants to get back to the game. Totes chill situation. Nothing worth stressing over.
