The final line of this film is sincere, but also condemning of the audience that fell into "the Pitt"...

Not hypocritical, but to me it's supposed to be a trick -- a fun one!

Don't get me wrong, Aldo is as good/bad as Landa (they're all 'Inglorious Basterds' -- maybe it's just me, but I find myself flip-flopping between the two for 'favourite'. However, the film -- IMO, this is the trick -- and I think THC mentioned something tangently related.

From what I've read (spoilers: wasn't around for WWII) he dangerous part about Nazi germany (and any Fascist gov.) is the "don't question" anything -- and the same in the army.

I have a vet friend, and he served in Cambodia. He was 17 at the time and admits:

"I wanted to kill sometthing, I wanted to be a man.

He was abused terribly from childhood. Iron cord whip, classic. Anywho:

While he was in Cambodia, he got into fight with "Gook", and killed him. Examining the body, he realised the dude he killed was probably his age. Oh. Wait. Does this mean---

his proxy for an Aldo type-- the CO, ave him this advice later:

"Don't think about it "

Me mate has regretted following that advice for the longest time. He's retired for a reason.

What do you mean by "support" ? As in, film clips... director quotes... actor stuff etc (back stage info, you know?)

Appreciate you getting back to me with a different response :)!
