Yes, I read your comment. However, you can't "drive 15 minutes into VA to buy/be gifted a gun and be allowed to carry it without worrying about being arrested in DC" which is the exact situation of the OP that I replied to originally reversed for the two states on guns vs weed.
Getting a second permit in a place you don't live to carry one specific gun after jumping through hoops, a 3 month wait, and paying more money when you already have a CCW in your home state is not the same as, "go[ing] freely between the two jurisdicitons." Oh yeah, then you have do it all again every 2 years when it expires. It's 5 years in VA, carry whatever guns you have, and much easier to get. You can even renew by mail. Personally I'm in the, "I want gay married couples to be able to protect their marijuana plants with guns" t-shirt group myself, so both places could use a little more freedom and a little less government.
