there is great comfort in being a member of a religion....you have certainty about death and it must feel great knowing that everything is going to be Ok and you don't have to worry about it....it is an amazing strong motivator for believing.....Having uncertainty is like walking a high wire and it is frightening for a while and you get little to no support from others....The thing you give up with certainty is the ability to use common sense and plain logic. For me to be a part of a religion I would pretty much have to disown those parts of myself.....I did that for a while and then at one point in my life it became clear that I could no longer lie to myself
