No, it's whenever the texts turn into harassment. Someone being overly aggressive, constantly blowing up your phone in order to know where you are and what you are doing every second, also limiting time you have to interact with others around you.

Such as my old friend's abusive father when we were teens. He would constantly blow up her phone asking when she was coming home, where she was, who she was talking to, why she was there, what she had been talking about, and who was with her every single time she left home to stay with relatives/friends.

She would answer these and get spammed with even more interrogation. They weren't as nicely put as I wrote them, either. He was a control-freak abuser who didn't want her telling anyone about anything, so he tried to limit who she interacted with outside of the house as much as possible. Tried to keep her on edge.

So, when she was gone, he was constantly messaging her, giving her little time to interact with those around her because if she didn't reply to his questions there would be terrible consequences afterwards. So she'd be sitting there, having to reply to his texts, which were nearly nonstop.

It's not just a lot of texts, or texting in general, as you put it. Do you even understand context?
