Finally ready to take the plunge, help!

I've been using my cup for a couple of years now and I wouldn't be exaggerating to say it's changed my life! Cups just make my life so much easier. I'll do my best to answer your questions, hopefully other folks will chime in too.

  1. Let's not beat around the bush here. It can get pretty messy! It depends a lot on how heavy your flow is on a given day, and how often you empty your cup. A less full cup is much easier to handle without creating a bloodbath, but definitely expect to need lots of tissue and handwashing. That said, the more you do it the easier it gets, so don't let it put you off.

  2. Cups are designed to form a seal encompassing your cervix. If you do misplace your cup it can feel uncomfortable or make you feel like you need the toilet. Some women find them uncomfortable even when they're properly placed and prefer pads/tampons.
