Finance Department says no conflict in use of Michael Sukkar's former law firm in investigation

You did speculate. I even directed a question to you specifically about your speculation.

Putting your poor attempt at a pivot aside, I never once expressed that Ashurst shouldn't "supply those reasons".

If someone wants to escalate this through the appropriate channels, then I would expect Ashurst to be entirely compliant with the due process.

And if it turns out that they were acting unethically, then I hope they get the book thrown at them.

If it turns out to be incompetence, then I hope they're appropriately reprimanded.

If that incompetence turns out to have a material impact on their conclusion, then I hope they're reprimanded proportionately - read: harshly.
