It's fine to be depressed

There is a fantastic article about Mount Everest I’ll link when I get the chance. Basically it’s about what a disaster Everest is every year during climbing season. One thing that stuck in my mind was the description of a climber, who just made it to the summit, doing a small jig, just a little victory dance, and then collapsing dead because of the exertion. Another climber, in his tent, accidentally flipped the regulator on his oxygen tank all the way open. The tank rapidly became empty and he was so exhausted he couldn’t change it. He was beginning to smother. Thankfully his porter showed up right as he was about to pass out, saw the tank was empty, and changed it. Imagine, you smother to death because you flipped the oxygen regulator to full and wasted your air, and you’re too exhausted to even put a new tank on. And you know, I don’t even care. If some rich person wants to go kill themselves because they want to have the seven summits under their belt or something, let them have at it. The part that gets me sad is the poor sherpas and porters who die carrying all their shit.
