I finished Bioshock Infinite today. I hated the ending

i think the entire game felt written as if there was a twist coming up, so not having one would have made the whole thing feel shallow. why are these characters acting suspicious? why are these coincidences not adding up? why do i know next-to-nothing about my character or his relationship with anyone in the world? i think taking out the twist would mean re-writing the entire plot, otherwise it would just end up in a bunch of loose ends and having a character with fuck-all personality to speak of.

they did balls it up though. they had too many grand ideas and not enough time, effort or creativity to properly explain them or have them make sense. they treated physics like magic and had any unanswered question hand-waved off with some bullshit, philosophical quote like "the key was always there, i just didn't see it". i think if they'd have cut out the "there's always a man, there's always a lighthouse" spiel and just had you figure out that you're Comstock then it would have kept the twist and the "holy shit" moment without leaving you scratching your head.
