Finished my first torchdown roof.

I too am a time and materials man. It's the only way these days. It irks me sometimes when I'm on a job and I see what other contractors charge for random things that I do. I could make bank on a lot of things, but I could lose my ass on a lot of then too. I'm thankful for everyday I get to be a time and materials man. I have no stress and I get to learn so many things. Several jobs you have no way of knowing what it would take to get done. I like knowing they'll pay me what I need to make to get by and pay for their shit. I always have meetings with customers and tell them how I think I'll go about it. I just had to tear out an old torch down roof to get back down to the the original to restore a windows peak on a historic building to get to the original 1890's vibe they wanted. That torch down from back in the day was no joke man. It really functions for 75-100 years and when you want to get it off it's not gonna happen without a weeks worh of work. That shit is solid
