Finland to offer new fathers as much paid leave as mothers

Unpopular opinion #1: Why does everyone feel its their employer's duty to pay them to have kids?

It's societies duty to Foster the health of itself, not the employer Alone, which this is not. but there is the fact that you are expected to sell your time on this Earth and make sacrifices with it to benifit your employer, wages are the price of pieces of your existence, and if by returning this sacrifice with a small one you maintain a symbiotic balance, cool.

Tons of research shows the first few months of a child's life is extremely important, and that a father's presence at this time is crucial to factors like future self worth, which can lead to sociopathic behavior if neglected. This leads to not only crime, but a more cruel and heartless society. So it's in everyone's interest to facilitate this.

In fact humanity is becoming less and less violent as this becomes more prevalent.

Society isn't just something individuals inhabit for mutual profit, it's Integral to human consiouness. Think of our evolution, we come from tight knit altruistic communities where each member was important and supported. As we took that away, crime and violence rose. We now have entire swaths of humanity who believe they are islands and breed creulty as a matter of course, thinking it's thier right as an island to do so.

It's not. It's actually counterproductive to thier own well-being.

Unpopular opinion #2: Having kids is a privilege, and not something everyone else should have to pay for (or subsidize indirectly). Want to take a 3 month vacation? Start saving up. Want to have a child that results in being away from work for 3 months? Start saving up.

Sounds simple, but it's not plausible for millions of people. what your suggesting is that only people capable of this monetary feat deserve to have children....this not only excludes some of the greatest people who ever lived from exsistance, but assumes that this monetary aquisition takes precedence over the very purpose of life as far as we can see, to continue the species.

Did your parents spend enough time with you when you were little?
