It's worth pointing out among all this hubbub that thesis' for academia often do not represent the actual views of the writers. When dealing with humanities subjects, a thesis requires you to take a position and argue it in a way you'll get points from your professors, not take a position and argue why it's one of your core beliefs. Students will often use devil's advocate arguments, or take controversial stances on topics, because its a good way to show off your rhetoric, argument and critical analysis skills to the people marking your papers.

Her actual thesis, from the brief bits I've seen, isn't even arguing for child porn, trafficking or anything like that. It condemns those things, while taking a position that cultural relativism vis a vis fictional depictions of children is not a good thing. She seems to have moved on a bit since then, which is fine, as adults are allowed to change their opinions, and no-one should be chained to the views they held when they just graduated college.
