I highly recommend you apply for your PAL after the course even if you dont intend to ever own one. The PAL is a federal ID card, which essentially shows you are one of the safest and trusted citizens of Canada, it is proof that you are not a criminal (your name is run every 24hrs in RCMP database for any red flags). It is a privilege to be a PAL holder in Canada, and certain jobs also see it as a benefit on your resume (Natutal resource sector).
