First car with a budget of 4K. Looking for easy maintenance. In real estate so finally looking to move around.

You can easily get into a ‘01-05 Toyota Corolla for under $4k. Engine by has plenty of room to work on if you have to. Parts are literally dirt cheap; you can buy them new from Toyota or drag them out of a junk yard. Doesn’t have ABS or traction control so less systems that can go bad.

If you plan on traveling a lot on the freeway, I’d suggest getting models with overdrive or manual trans. I’d look for one with less than 140K miles. The only major issue to look out for is oil consumption. Due to age (and the oil piston rings used), these cars can consume oil. Just keep an eye on your dipstick and keep a quart or 2 of oil in the trunk.
