First Computer Build-3000$ Budget.

Well, if the EL-8s live up to their hype, at least. If not, a return, and the quest for hi-fi will continue.

I find that a certain other hat is a bit more optimal for tipping, personally. Just to have it all in one place for reference, measurements of the recommendations: HD600, HE-400i, K712. And of the other mentioned: AD2000x, HD700, HE-500, MrSpeakers Mad Dog, MrSpeakers Alpha Dog, Fostex TH600, and AKG K812, just if you care to look through 'em.

Fair enough, I suppose. For the record, I don't think that the K700 series sees much use in actual pro work, but it's certainly an excellent model.

Oh yeah, amps are a biiiiig topic of debate between the subjective and objective camps. I'm not mentioning the the O2 because it's good, though: I'm mentioning it because its creator was one of the single most iconic representatives of the objective side of the objective-subjective amp debate, and the O2 is basically the culmination of his work in that regard.

Ha, you say that now. Of all the people I've seen get into higher-tier audio, only a handful have staved off the dread grip of upgraditis. Still, the HD600s are faaaar from a bad choice, and you know my stance on the O2+ODAC already.

No worries about slow responses, I'm rarely in a rush when I assist folks.
