Honestly, it's totally up to you. In the current dating climate, many women are choosing to make low effort appearance for a first date.
The primary reason I've heard is the prevalence of ghosting and last minute cancelations. It takes women a long time to glam up for meeting (showering, shaving, moisturizing, skincare, makeup, hair, clothes, etc). Personally for me this process takes about 1.5-2 hours and requires a lot of product (ie $$). So it's frustrating when you put all that work in for someone, or multiple people, to not show up.
Attending a first date with a low effort look removes this investment of both time and money for something you can't be sure is going to happen in the first place.
Just a different perspective, from a woman.
