First day of school in a Georgia town. One of the biggest virus hot zones in the world.

Hi, I know this’ll get swallowed but I attend the school in question. This is the entire school, not just one hall. It’s all crowded, 1/10 people wear masks, and the classes aren’t even social distancing. In my third period I’m crammed into a room of 32 people, I’d say I’m only around 2-3 feet away from the nearest people. My mother is diabetic and I of course wear a mask all day, seeing other people throw away the safety of my family because of their own ideas makes me, quite frankly, sick. If you knowingly don’t wear a mask because you’re not worried then you aren’t considering the bigger picture, and if you’re a system that knowingly crams children into these conditions then you’re no better.

We are two days in and the entire first and second day I spent wondering if I’m going to catch covid despite my mask because of other people. I am scared, I am angry, and most of all I am disgusted.
