Here's my opinion based on the success of this grow.

Things that are uneccesary: Still air boxes/gloveboxes, flow hoods, flame sterilizing inoculation needles.

This is why: Alcohol sterilizing inoculation needles between each jar is obviously completely sufficient. Flame sterilizing adds an unnecessary, and potentially harmful step to the LC in the syringe.

If I can knock up jars in the kitchen with no boxes or hoods or even Lysol successfully and repeatedly successfully then your $500 custom flow hood might be overkill.

Some more info on my grow:

I had to fruit the tubs at a friend's place and we split the yield 50/50. I made some mistakes and learned a lot so here's some text about that.

Initially I knocked up 24 brf jars with 6 golden teacher liquid culture syringes from sporeworks. If I was doing it again I'd use 12 initial jars and 3 syringes to save money there because g2g to the quart jars is cheap,easy, and blows up the amount of colonized spawn quickly enough even with less initial jars. I used half a brf jar of colonized brf g2g transfer to each quart jar of sterilized corn.

Corn is more expensive than wbs but easier to work with if you're doing jars instead of bags. I also did g2g transfers in open air with no contam. Leaving the sterilized jars in the PC for +12hours to cool helps most for sterility.

I really liked the simplicity of daimon's bucket pastuerizing the coir/verm and used 8qts coir/3qts verm/5qts spawn for near 2:1 ratio in the tubs. Make sure to let it cool completely before adding spawn.

One of the tubs I did 1/4 inch holes at sub level and 4x- 2inch poly holes higher up. The other tubs I did bode's unmodded Tek where you just flip the lid on a 60qt sterlite and it makes 4 open top fae holes. Both types worked equally well. I colonized the tubs in darkness and low fae for 10 days but I would go straight to fruiting conditions next time.

I was only able to do 1 flush on these tubs which is a shame but that's what happens when dancing around stereotypes and NIMBY-ism lol
