Pakistan is not our enemy. We are not in a constant state of war with them. So fishing disputes are the same in both cases. Fishermen are caught in peacetime over a border that had been peaceful since 1971. Perhaps you think Gujarati fishermen’s lives and families are of less value?

I am saying that indian government has been working to get indian fisherman released from srilanka. And does get them released. There are channels which are open for negotiating and preventing the use of force. There’s no reason to believe that Indian government just ignores this.

Believe it or not, it’s an issue of Indian sovereignty - not just Tamil pride or well being - if an Indian citizen is captured or killed within indian or international waters by a foreign nation. Or within their borders without due process.

And I still don’t have any source from you on the claims of 5000 killed - at once or over time. Please share it at your convenience. I am not saying this doesn’t happen.

Ultimately, my question is this : what would be “steps” that you would have them take? ( Because I think India does it’s best for Indian fishermen in srilankan custody while also trying to prevent diplomatic Incidents that will bring India’s rivals in India’s backyard right next to important naval bases. )
