First time investing, what do you think of my stock picks?

You wanted some thoughts so here are mine:

AAPL - Bought this one last year after one of their shareholder meetings. Certainly haven't been disappointed. People keep hyping up the Apple watches, although I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the why on this subject. For me, the selling point was Apple's initiatives with Healthkit and Homekit, 2 areas which Apple could relatively easily build off of their existing ecosystem and make great strides in. Recently it was announced that Apple was working on a self-driving car. I struggle to see that business venture worth the massive investment needed, and would rather they cut from that field entirely. Still, I continue to hold. Acceptable dividend yield, decent valuation and P/E by most historically-accepted metrics, good revenue streams.

UA - On my watchlist but not a buy at the present time. I've used their products and do like them, and the acquisition of MyFitnessPal is an excellent move. On the flipside, the valuation for this stock is stratospheric (80 times earnings is a speculative wonderland), they face strong and seemingly capable competition (Nike, Adidas, a host of cheaper in-store brands), and barriers to entry on certain services, such as MyFitnessPal, are not so high that somebody else couldn't beat them at this game. Love the company, but not the current price.

DIS - I excitedly bought Disney back in 2012 following the news that they purchased Lucasfilm. I certainly haven't regretted that decision, and the stock has taken off like a rocket and crushed the S&P over the past 2 years. Valuation metrics that I like to use (P/E, Dividend Rate, etc.) aren't as attractive as I'd otherwise prefer; I'm not sure if I personally would buy Disney at today's levels... That said, I love the company and everything they offer and stand for :-)

Good luck on your financial journey!
