First time plying Fallout 4, any tips?!

Step 1: Be alive

Step 2: Don't get deaded

Step 3: Do some things

-

Joking aside, yeah, I have some tips:

-If you're not too confident in your aim, use the VATS function provided to you, but remember to invest in your Perception stat to make the most of it; there's this item called "Mentats" that is a consumable that boosts perception too, increasing your VATS effectiveness. Regardless, it's good to practice gunplay/aim when you can, as it pays off.

-There's a build for virtually every style. Identify the style that speaks to you most and invest points in the perks that suit them best sooner rather than later. Do you like to rush an enemy with a baseball bat, shrugging off bullets and bashing in skulls? Do you like to snipe? Do you like to sneak up on them and slit their throats? Regardless of what answer you come to, look at the Perk chart and chances are there's a perk you'll want to invest in that helps you do that.

-Your companions are an extension of your inventory. If you're over-encumbered, they're pack mules. Also meatshields. You unlock a companion very quickly(with minimal spoilers, you'll come a cross a dog at some point. That's your first available companion).
