The first time in recent memory that Deathstroke has been written to push a political agenda.

Next week an over-sized comic titled "Love is Love" will be released which aims to honor the 49 people killed in Orlando earlier this year. This issue will also celebrate the LGBTQ community and examine "love" in today's world.

It's a great cause. More tolerance is always something to strive for.

Unfortunately the creative team that handled the Deathstroke portion of the issue seized the opportunity to suggest that the firearms used in the massacre are to blame. Not the lunatic behind the trigger.

They went so far as to have the worlds deadliest assassin of all people trash his guns after getting upset watching the news about Orlando. His bread and butter. The tools of the trade. He decides he'll just "karate" targets to death.

It's implied that if we give up our constitutional right to bare arms that countless lives will be spared. High caliber weaponry would only be the first on the list. Once low caliber sales go up they'll be next. And so on.

Love may be love. But hate is hate. No amount of gun control laws are going to prevent a criminal from finding the tools he needs to get the job done. We'd just be limiting the means of protection for law abiding citizens and their families.

I'm never one to mix my politics with my fandom—but when my favorite character is used to further an agenda it's a little different. Especially when Slade is represented taking such a hard stance on a highly divisive issue such as this.

Captain America might as well be drawing a line through freedom of speech on the bill of rights in response to someone sending out death threats.

Handing over your constitutional rights on a silver platter in response to lunatics being lunatics will never be the answer.

While the rest of the issue may be good. This page is undoubtedly a joke.
