First very minor car accident, how to not overthink?

This doesn't necessarily apply in this instance, but here is some general advice: you should always avoid apologizing in the event of an accident.

Make sure everyone is ok, exchange information in both directions, call the police if its more than a fender-bender and/or someone is hurt, and then go about your way. Insurance will get everything sorted out. There is a natural instinct to apologize when an accident happens, particularly when your car is the one that struck the other. However, there are a million situations in which its actually the other car's fault, and that wont always be apparent right away. Apologizing can be used against you, so just dont say those magic words at the scene of the accident under any circumstances.
