[Fischer] Sources confirm that the 76ers were indeed interested in landing Noel before Philadelphia shifted its sights to Al Horford after being unable to reach Rich Paul. The Clippers and Rockets also attempted to contact Rich Paul that same offseason, also to no avail.

My ultimate issue is I just don’t think Rich Paul’s tactics are good for the league on the whole.

In general the “grab the money now, force a trade if it goes south” by has been good for players and bad for the NBA product. Rich Paul didn’t invent this, but he certainly seems to have leveraged that and other things to publicly extreme levels.

His tactics remind me a lot of the tragedy of the commons. It’s best for everyone on the whole to have as many fanbases as possible invested in the product. It’s best for each individual superstar to say “fuck that, get me to a championship caliber team in a city I want to be in.” shrug i don’t know what a real solution for the league looks like.
