Well, it’s complicated... and here’s why. Wikileaks has done tremendous damage to US intelligence agencies because of the information they have released over the years. Intelligence guys HATE him because of it, and a Trump cannot simply come out and try helping Julian without stirring up some serious shit from his own government because of this fact. Combine that with the ridiculous conspiracy theory that Wikileaks (and Russia) helped to elect Trump. He’s not dumb, the optics of him helping Julian at this point would not be healthy. The smarter thing for Trump to do would be to wait for his second term before helping him when he is further away from suffering any political repercussions from doing it, and my personal opinion is that he should. As Sanger has suffered greatly for what he has done, he deserves the help.
