What crazy times we live in. I grew up in the 1970s and 1980s, and mumps & measles were unheard of.

I think a root cause of all this is the Internet giving the stupidest members of society a voice. Back in the old days, editors and publishing houses were the thing that kept crackpots & conspiracy theorists in check. Now they're able to leverage a following by millions of people with an IQ under 80. Just take a look at YouTube and look how many views there are on channels peddling bad science and conspiracies. Millions upon millions of views.

We need to come to grips really soon with the fact that (1) dumb people and (2) smart people mobilizing dumb people are dragging everyone down.
