You know how everyone is surprised (except not really) that nothing has replaced Facebook yet? Same thing.

It's so easy for people to hypothesize that some competitor will just come out of nowhere to save the day. Not only that but they will somehow be equal or better than everything YouTube has to offer in every conceivable way. Google themselves can't even pull that off. They tried to dethrone both Facebook and Twitch and crashed and burned. They couldn't beat YouTube either, so they bought it.

People's expectations are way too high. YouTube is a behemoth and even if they do a bunch of things wrong, people are going to stick with them for a long time.
