"Well, that would depend on your definition of racism"

Indeed it would.

"As I pointed out, that term is broader than just ethnicity alone."

That's a matter of opinion.

"That second group, that is infringed on, can be defined by ethnicity, cultural variance, institutional beliefs, etc."

Again, that's a matter of opinion. Islam and its followers aren't a race.

"You never disproved my point, you just restated your argument and failed to understand what you're arguing for, /u/HomophobicLemon."

I did, actually. Several times. Here, I'll do it again: Islam isn't a race, therefore /u/Bostonarea1416 isn't a racist.

"If you want a home grown example, name one Western European ethnic group that wasn't marginalized or oppressed based off religion? The Irish? The french? Italians? Spanish? Even the English?"

Yeah, except they're not races.

"You can't mention a white ethnic group that wasn't marginalized from the Protestant majority when this country started, all the way up until modern times."

That's always a wise thing to bust out when you're frustrated and can't defend a point regarding racism.

"Americans loved to hate the Catholics. That's why Kennedy BARELY won his election, first Catholic President. Sure everyone remembers the legacy now, because of the tragedy he represents in her most optimistic time. It's ironic, because his biggest weakness was Roman Catholicism, because the Protestant majority had marginalized and oppressed Catholics since inception."

Right, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Islam isn't a race. This tirade of yours, thus far, isn't impressing me.

"Do you like your 14th amendment, patriot? So do religious minorities. In a 1979 consultation on the issue, the United States Commission on Civil Rights defined religious discrimination in relation to the civil rights guaranteed by the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution."

Meh, I guess it's a noteworthy amendment. Sadly, it doesn't deem Islam a race.

In regards to your "story":

Islam still isn't a race.

"edit: I like how you've edited all your comments multiple times to sound less ignorant. I guess that counts for something. If you don't want to expand your definition of racism, that's fine man I'm sure there is some social-group you will find commonalities with. In the modern world, we have come to define the world to encompass more than just skin color, patriot. Racism isn't just prejudice because of ethnicity. If you want to only see the world in white and black, well then I can't stop you."

I was actually citing the CDC's official race list to prove, once and for all, that "Muslim" isn't associated with a race.

You can go ahead and berate me and attempt to convince me that your malformed definition of racism trumps everything I've said, but I stand by my initial point.

Islam and its followers are not a race.
