Flood irrigation on an almond orchard in California

What % of California milk comes from conventional farms vs organic? Are sonoma/marin/mendocino/humboldt self sufficient for hay?

Local valley co op? the Stornetta ranches? They irrigate the he'll out of their hay fields, and make huge money selling veal calfs. Larry is a nice guy, but the grass is not greener on the other side. They did donate a HUGE piece of land to the nature conservancy, which now is managed by the BLM (awesome!), but they still have grazing rights (meaning they can graze as they always did, without any responsibility sibility for the land). Yes they are better than many many producers, but modern large scale dairy simply is not sustainable. The stornetta Brothers own something like 20k acres, so they are pretty large scale for this region.
