Floppy airway - need encouragement and experience

I’m dealing with the same thing, although for us it’s undiagnosed laryngomalacia. At first I thought my baby was struggling because it’s very dry here, and I thought that was causing some congestion but she started having an intermittent high pitched gasp, which sent me looking for more info. I’m just today realizing she has all the symptoms of mild laryngomalacia.

Everything I’ve read says that it will be fine, it’s normal, they’ll grow out of it. I can’t handle the sound of her struggling though so she’s currently sleeping soundly on her tummy on my chest (I’m awake and at a slight incline and I think that helps too). I’ve been doing a deep dive reading about safe sleep positions for babies with laryngomalacia and interestingly some posters say their doctors told them to have baby sleep on their side or tummy and to use foam positioners. I also saw safe cosleeping (following safe 7 guidelines) recommended. I was super surprised because prior to giving birth everything I read said those were unsafe options. I saw a couple hospital info sheets suggest the same thing (tummy sleep) for babies with laryngomalacia.

I’m planning on talking to our doctor about it on Monday to discuss safe sleep options and to see if we should bother getting a diagnosis. Baby is otherwise healthy, gaining weight etc. It’s just difficult for us to hear her breathing at night like this. Noisy breathing goes away if she’s on her side or tummy...

Anyway thanks for posting, solidarity.
