Florida Representative Anthony Sabatini (R-32) is suing Orange County over the mask mandate.

OK, let me explain it to you in simple words:

Please do!

If there is no penalty for not wearing a mask, then any "ordinance" is a waste of breath and a joke that is just pandering to a certain demographic.

Clearly I stated there should be a penalty. A $10 monetary fine so that it is not excessive but enough to get your attention.

If there is a penalty for not wearing a mask, then this penalty must be enforceable. Which means that the police have to be able to enforce it.

Again, a fine that is given out.

If the police can not enforce it, then you have just said that the ordinance has no penalty.

See above.

If you are not wearing a mask, and the police attempt to enforce you wearing a mask, and you refuse to provide ID, refuse to allow them handcuff you, refuse to partake in their desire to enforce the ordinance in any way, then what?

You get a $10 fine. If you do not produce identification, then other statutes and ordinances are at play. An officer needs to know who they are dealing with when they issue a citation or fine. No one ever said they can't ask for your ID, I think this is widely understood but you seem to be mixing it up somehow?

Well, then either the police must have the right to use force and arrest you, or they must ignore you and let you go about your day.

Only arrest. Use of force is not merited. Ignoring is not an option. If you litter and are stopped by an officer you must produce identification. Failure to produce identification means that you go to the jail until they can properly identify you. This is not really in dispute.

So yes, if you want a penalty for not wearing a mask, then you have to accept that it is possible that the police may kill someone because that someone does not wear a mask and then fights the police rather than doing what the police tell them to do.

No, I do not have to accept the possibility that police may kill someone to enforce a mask ordinance. You are emotionally arguing a net negative position. "Either X or Y." We do not live in a society in which the extremes are the only options. Nice attempt at fear baiting none-the-less.

I understand it perfectly.

Clearly not, but okay.

Rayshard Brooks did not get shot by the police because he was sleeping peacefully in his car. He got shot by the police because he attacked them, disarmed one, and then while running away fired a taser at the pursuing officer.

I see now. Comment completely clears up where you are coming from and why you are still harping on this so badly.

If you agree that there should be a penalty for not wearing a mask, then you agree that the Atlanta police officers acted reasonably and that Brooks getting shot was his own fault.

Nope. You are again illustrating a world in which there are only two options, the extremes of the situation. That is disillusion and again, fear baiting. I wont bite my friend.

That or you honestly don't understand the connection.

I do, you just are not getting the point.
