Flyers hold another closed door meeting after 'unacceptable' loss to Avs

Roy continues to trust the likes of Guenin and Stuart despite the fact that they are terrible defenseman. Luckily this season they have been healthy scratches a few times. But that doesn't change the fact that basic statistics, advanced statistics, and simply the "eye test" indicate Roy is in over his head:

These aren't just bad numbers. They are atrocious.

In our Central winning year, we had similar unsustainable percentages across the board. That's why professional analysts unanimously agreed we were in for regression. And guess what? Two years later and Roy has done nothing to prove that our Central title year was the norm, instead of the outlier.

For this reason I put very little weight in the argument of a Jack Adams or Central title as strong arguments in favor of Roy. I also don't buy the injuries argument - very few teams per season don't have at least one or two big names who are out for extended periods. You play the hand you're dealt and you don't make excuses.

Let's say you disagree with everything I posted or you are someone who refuses to jump on the advanced stats train. Here is what is undeniable about what we've seen this season: -Each players had at least one or two great games. None are playing to their potential however on a consistent level other than MacKinnon and Berra. -Noticeable lack of forecheck and neutral zone defense -We are always blocking shots. While sacrificing your body is admirable, constantly blocking is symptomatic of a team without possession. How are we supposed to break it out or clear the puck? If you are blocking shots, it also means you are not pressing your man which means you are giving him opportunity to shoot. If you are blocking shots, you are in the path of the puck meaning higher rates of blocking the goalie's vision as well as redirecting the puck. From beer league to pros, goalies want visibility.

Lastly, for me personally it also comes down to the little things. Hiring Dave Farrish. Roy micromanaging by whistling at grown ass men instead of letting them make the decision at when it's best to line change. Postgame interviews where he praises the defense, even when they lose the game for us.

Even if he's a better coach than I give him credit for, the culmination of his errors leads me to believe that he's not the one that will take the Avs to the promise land. He's a good player's coach is about the only positive thing I can say about him, and even then I'm running off media and Twitter for that.

Here's my question to you: what is it exactly that we are blaming that is out of Roy's control? Remember, he has an expanded office role + has a history with Sakic, so if anything he has more control than your average coach.
