Focus on me.

Except, at least for my kid, self-entertainment tends to mean making loud noises, probably relatively often screaming, occasionally of the high pitched variety that makes my ears ring. I don’t think anybody signed up to have to deal with that when they happened to decide to go out to eat at the same time as my family. If you’re judging parents because they eventually concede that they need some technological help in keeping everyone around them sane, are you really going to tell me that you nor others wouldn’t also judge them for the mayhem that can ensue without that help? Or are you offering to come babysit and keep my toddler from throwing a tantrum over how long everything takes and how he can’t have everything he wants exactly how he wants it when he wants who knows what? (This is coming from a mom that actually had a relatively successful outing without technological help today.)
