Focusing on what I have

Did you legitimately need the newest versions of these things before you were aware of their existence?

If there are any real shortcomings to what has already served you well, can you find a way to accommodate for them without obtaining something new? If so, buying the new one would be wasteful in cost, wasteful of the old version and the material that went into it, and the stress of finding a way to get rid of the old version

I had a similar situation recently for a piece of rock climbing gear, when a new fancier one came out. It's a little lighter and smoother to operate than the old one I've been using for almost 10 years, but that one is still well within it's service life and the advantages offered by the new one are so insignificant I cannot justify replacing the one I already have. Maybe when mine is worn down and dangerous to continue using, I will consider it
