there are good shelters on that stretch, you don't really need a full tent. i'd pack a light tarp in the event that the shelter is full when you get there. you don't need to pack 4 day's rations. get a good breakfast in you, and grab a 12" subway before you head out. eat half the sub for lunch, and the rest for dinner night one. now you need 3 meals for day two, 3 meals for day three, and something for breakfast day 4. chances are you'll be in harper's ferry day three anyway. wear whatever sneakers or boots you already own providing they have life left in them.
