For all the new people joining us

Well, I would definitely suggest getting more used to eve in general and trying out the different ways of making money. Both blitzing level 4 missions and doing high sec incursions are approachable and can make you enough money to at least keep you from needing to plex(however, plexing is very hard to beat from an isk/hr standpoint)

Not too long ago the recommendation for newbies was to do exploration, though that's become quite saturated - you can still do it though, and make a decent amount - enough to give away free T1 frigates at least. I'd actually recommend trying it just because it will bring you to the other spots in eve and give you a chance to observe - you can sit on the sidelines and watch as people in drakes get ganked, and all the other variations on that, and see how they respond.

As a word of advice for ratting in low, if you can get a mobile depot up you can refit to warp stabs.(this won't be effective after the update) If you rat orbiting the mobile depot it will already be up for you to refit. Even if you're about to die you can shove all your stuff in to it and only lose the hull(possibly insured) and rigs. Light drones should also be able to chew through frigates and keep them occupied(they can either shoot you, your depot(if it wasn't up yet), or your drones)

Anyway, the way I made most of my money in eve was arbitrage, speculating, and brokering. The brokering bit was more effort than it was worth, but carting stuff from jita to low sec FW definitely paid off, and speculating like buying geckos when they were cheap and selling after they skyrocketed in price was an extremely good bet for me. I had to get money before I had enough to make those work for me though(except the brokering), and I got that from a combination of running lvl 4's or orbiting FW buttons when I just wanted to zone out to netflix and incursions or WH exploration when I wanted to be more engaged. PI bores me out of my mind, and industry in general burns me out(though I've done my fair share of it, and still pop profitable faction BPs in the queues on occasion). I'm really far from space rich though, I just get by and most of my wealth is tied up in assets at any given time.(speculating in things that won't be made again if nothing else)
