For all the non veg/veg people- what's your reason for not becoming a vegan?

I ate vegan for around a year after getting a cancer diagnosis in my early thirties. Lots of people tried convincing me against it citing scientific studies and whatnot, but there are enough studies out there (validated by my oncologists) that support a vegan, fat free, vegetable heavy diet for reducing risks of recurrence of cancer. Chemotherapy was way harder than vegan diet, and I am willing to give up my favourite foods for a chance at a heal my body. What I experienced while on the diet was amazing - I lost weight (unrelated to treatments, as most people on my sort of chemo gain weight), my blood and liver test results improved, fatty liver disappeared and I felt a lot of improvement in my energy levels. My skin cleared up while I was on the diet post my treatment. I took B12 supplements to be on the safe side. Most importantly, I stopped craving meat and sugar fairly quickly as my taste buds adapted, and I appreciate the taste of vegetables and fruits today. I learned that taste is essentially a habit - if you keep eating something, you end up loving the taste. Some food taste amazing by default of course (biryani for example). But you definitely can live a fulfilling life without biryani or sugar or cheesy pasta.

I have since reverted to occasional meat eating and daily milk tea. The reason was cultural - it is hard to live in Indian society and an Indian family without eating these things. It is sad that we Indians are a judgemental society. We don't appreciate "live and let live". I didn't want to deal with the added stress of maintaining 100% veganism.

About cost - I dont get the point of vegan diets being costly. No one asks you to buy tofu or almond milk. These are not mandatory parts of a vegan diet.

About protein - I haven't heard of anyone being medically diagnosed with a protein deficiency in socieities like ours. My observation is that our Indian diets are imbalanced because we eat way too many carbs, which we should cut out, but we usually manage to get enough proteins
