For educated trained Americans it's generally pretty easy to move abroad to other countries. Why don't more left leaning people move to a country with a better political fit?

A lot do. I have lived abroad for 8 years and there are Americans everywhere where I have been.

The grass is always greener though. Although there are a lot of policies I like here in Europe more such as better working regulations, more holiday, more accessible healthcare etc. There is a lot of shit that also sucks here.

Also most areas in Europe that are more left leaning have absolutely horrid housing markets where decent jobs for expats/immigrants (whatever you want to call us) are. For example to buy a decent two bedroom apartment in Prague you'd need to shell out 400,000 USD when the median salary is about 1200 dollars a month after taxes. Where i lived near Frankfurt in Germany was the same. Rent was also very expensive in Germany and here in CZ compared to salaries. Where I lived in the USA had higher salaries than here with much cheaper rent/housing. I don't see this problem ever getting better with how low interest rates are here now.

There is also an insane amount of casual racism and sexism here. (at least where I lived in Germany and now in CZ). I 've heard at my job before people talking out loud about how there should be no muslims allowed in the Czech Republic while our muslim colleagues were just kind of sulking in the corner. HR wouldn't care about this at all here.

I could go on forever, but basically it's not the utopia reddit often makes it out to be but there are a lot of things here that I would love implemented in the US.
