For Fashion Revolution Week: my collection of hand knit garments and attempt to reduce my consumption of clothing. How do you fight consumerism and stay clothed?

Quality over quantity. I used to really enjoy shopping, which meant buying a bunch of crap just for the hell of it. Now I’m trying to cultivate a capsule wardrobe of items that will last me at least a decade. I’m spending the same amount on less, but I feel so much better in my clothes now. Not only do I have a wardrobe that looks more professional, but I feel like I have a stronger appreciation for what I do have.

I don’t feel bad about buying something if I need it (or even if I just want it), but I always make sure it’s something that 1) will be useful to me for at least five years, and 2) isn’t frivolous (i.e if I have enough shirts to only do laundry once a fortnight I don’t need another).
