I am on EBT/SNAP right now, which is "food stamps" and the card reloads with under $200 per month, seemingly based on what I pay for rent.
It covers almost all "raw" food at specific stores that accept it, exception is pre-made food for immediate consumption like sandwiches made in store. It's supposed to be a supplement to your grocery budget, not lunch at work or whatever. Frozen section is all fair game. Things it doesn't cover are things with a "Supplement Facts" label, so the sleepytime tea I like isn't covered, but tea is normally covered. Soap is not food so it is not covered. Also anything else you might pick up at a grocery store that isn't food (tin foil, laundry detergent, vitamins, paper towels). Depending on where you are there might be alcohol in the store, and is not covered, but cooking wine may be covered, as well as vanilla extract as these items are supposed to be for cooking, not drinking.
