One of the people who lives in my apartment building is a cop for the city. We chatted a bit since we both had to go in for work, I work graveyard shift and don’t get New Year’s Day off and it was all hands on deck for the police.

He told me he hates this day the most. People drinking at a party and thinking they’re good to drive end up wrapping themselves around a pole or worse, hitting another car. Worst call he got was New Years. Drunk driver hit a minivan. Scumbag was able to walk out of his car without a scratch but the (cold sober) mother and her kids back from a party were killed.

Dude is still in jail for three counts of manslaughter.
