For those who "Spoke now" instead of forever holding their peace at a wedding, what was your reason and how'd it go?

Haha I'll try. I'm typing on my phone though, so it might be poorly formatted.

So basically, my best friend is 28 years old, self-described gamer. Never had a girlfriend, only ever been on a handful of dates. He's a bit overweight, but not for lack of trying. Just how his body is. Overall though, the nicest guy I've ever known. Now this is important: he hates when I try to set him up with anyone, to the point of sabotaging potential dates just because I set it up. Regardless I make it my mission one weekend to set him up with a girl. We hit up a few bars, nothing really happens. This last bar we hit up is this gamer bar downtown. We frequent it most weekends, so we know most of the staff and the regulars. We are there for about half an hour, just talking with friends, when this girl walks in. He's never seen her before. He's interested. She sits at a table with some friends of hers and starts drinking. My buddy won't stop staring. I prod him, "go talk to her", but he's too shy, and besides she's with friends. I push and push, and finally I ask him if her friends were gone would he talk to her. Thinking that's impossible, he agrees. I make him promise me. He promises. I make him pinky swear. He pinky swears(ok not quite). So I casually stroll up to the table, and a minute later, everyone except her walks off with me. He is in shock. But I give him a look like, "you promised." Finally, he gets up and talks to her. Shyly at first, but she's confident. They hit it off. They've been dating for a year and a half now.

My secret? She was my friend's cousin that I had tried to set up with him weeks before, but he kept making excuses and generally avoiding it. So I made him think he did everything. Had her meet us at the bar. Told him about 6 months later. Never got a bigger hug in my life.
