Ford announces $1.8 billion investment to produce 'fully battery electric vehicles' in Canada "In terms of electric vehicles, Ford produces the new Mustang Mach-E in Mexico and it plans to start production of the Ford F-150 Electric in Michigan in 2022."

Why is it a good thing to give so much public money to a private company? Can anybody explain or lead me to resources to help me understand. Ford is already rich as hell, they threaten to fire employee, but no one ever suggests the 17.75 million dollar salary the company's leadership makes can be reduced.

$11 billion restructuring of Ford that involves slashing jobs, closing plants, updating an aging lineup, exiting the North American sedan market and pouring billions into electric and self-driving cars.

Is this what the government is supporting or do I not get it? Source

Because it was Ford that killed electric vehicles in the first place. Why does the government continually support and buy out the most successful companies?
