Ford cabinet meeting to discuss Jan. 2022 back-to-school plan, possible new COVID-19 isolation rules

Yes but to go to a movie or a restaurant, the space is limited to 50% capacity and people have to show proof of vaccinations.

In schools, there are no reduced class sizes (in fact some classes are larger than usual), and students don’t have to show proof of vaccinations. Students remove their masks each day for 40 minutes to eat. Private businesses are nowhere near the same level of transmission risk as a public school classroom.

If we want to keep schools open during this Omicron wave, what can we do to make classrooms safer now that we see how easily transmissible it is? We can try to keep schools open all we want, but when teachers and students start catching Omicron, chaos will ensue because of the constant disruption and lack of supply teachers willing to fill in for sick teachers. It’s a very tricky situation. I honestly have no idea what will happen.
